Farming Practices |

Transplants in the greenhouse |
Fox Creek Farm does not use synthetics (pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, or fertilizers) in our farming operation. We adopt organic farming practices, but choose not to apply for third-party organic certification. To grow our high quality produce we rotate our crops according to our crop rotation plan, use outstanding quality seeds and grow vigorous transplants, and we take great care of our soils. We monitor our soil
fertility closely with soil sampling, and maintain the quality of our soils
through our extensive cover cropping program, the application of composted manure, and
when needed the application of limestone and other minerals. Since we are growing our CSA members’ food right here in the Hilltowns, there is ample opportunity to visit the farm, call us, and otherwise personally verify that we maintain our 'grown organically' pledge. Together we avoid the added fees and related administrative expenses that come with the maintenance of organic certification. At Fox Creek Farm we believe that knowing the people who grow your food is the best guarantee to know what ends up on your table. |
