Interested in starting a CSA site? Fox Creek Farm would enjoy working with you!

Fox Creek Farm currently has 5 distribution sites throughout New York's Capital District, which brings our freshly harvested vegetables within a short drive or walk for quite some people. We are interested in bringing our food closer to you, and would like to expand our highly successful CSA throughout the Albany/Schenectady/Troy area, providing our vegetables to your CSA site.

Let Fox Creek Farm know that you are interested in starting a new CSA site. Email Sara and Raymond Luhrman at foxcreekfarmcsa@earthlink.net, or call (518) 872-2375.

Frequently asked questions about starting a new CSA site:

* What costs are involved working with Fox Creek Farm?

The farmers will work with you to get the site organized, using the methods we have developed over the past 7 years we have been running CSA sites. We will not charge anyone for our time involvements getting a new site started.

* Is there a minimum number of shareholders at a new site?

As a general guideline, we would like to see at least 20 shares sold to make it worthwhile to add the site as a drop-off location. However, if the site is located on one of our current delivery routes, we could be flexible with this number, although we will not take on first-time sites with less than 10 shares.

* What requirements are there for a distribution site?

For the distribution site, we need a place to set up a table for our boxes with vegetables in a shaded, indoor ("rain or shine") location. This location should be easily accessible with our delivery truck, and preferably be on street level. We also need a place to store our collapsible boxes for exchange/reuse at the next week’s share distribution. Examples of sites we currently use are church kitchens, a SUNY professor's lab, and the stock room of a co-op.

* Why would an  organization host a CSA site?

Hosting a CSA site fits well with wellness programs, go-green, and go-local initiatives, among others. Through the CSA, supporters of the farm gain access to some of the freshest locally produced vegetables around, while keeping another local farm afloat - maintaining Fox Creek Farm's land in agriculture as it has been over the past couple of hundred years.

* How do I get started?

Get the word out! Contact the farm with your site ideas. Tell your friends and neighbors that you would like to start a CSA site in the neighborhood, or tell your colleagues at work that you would like to start a site at work, and try to determine the level of interest.
