Fox Creek Farm CSA Intern program |
|
We do host qualified, highly motivated interns with strong interest in organic vegetable production and direct marketing through a Community Supported Agriculture model during all or part of the growing season (April - October). This is an outstanding opportunity to learn more about our successful vegetable farm model. Since we do not offer on site housing, we especially encourage students from SUNY Cobleskill (e.g. for the final internship of the Plant Science degree) to apply for this program. The farm is an approximate 20 minutes car ride from downtown Cobleskill. Together with the intern, the farmers will develop a training program for the duration of the internship. The qualified intern will work with the farmers to accomplish the goals set in the plan. We offer a stipend to compensate for expenses. |

Being physically fit and having the stamina to do
hard and often repetitive outdoor labor is required. The intern will work
supervised and sometimes independently, must be able to take directions from
his/her supervisors, be punctual, and pay attention to detail yet accomplish
tasks in a timely manner. A professional and friendly manner to all
customers and visitors to the farm is needed. The CSA draws members to the
farm but often social contact is limited to the farmers, Raymond and Sara,
and our group of part-time farm hands. Therefore the intern should
have a genuine interest in agriculture. S/he
must have a valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle access, and not smoke
on the farm. We invite interested candidates to request an application form by email: foxcreekfarmcsa@earthlink.net. Part of the application process will include a discussion with a former Fox Creek Farm intern, and requires meeting the farmers and visiting the farm.
